Monster Hunter: An Introduction

2004 I'm visiting my good friend Phillipe for some gaming time and he shows me this game, Monster Hunter.  I remember seeing the commercial on TV with the Yian Kut Ku, a silly looking bird. Mind you, monster rancher came out at the same time so i put the game in the same category as a "silly child's game", but he said i should give it a try, so i did.

The game wasn't much at first, great graphics for that time, seeing dinosaurs, gathering herbs and mushrooms, cool.  The first hunting quest came, "Kill the Velociprey", a raptor like creature and I still was like "Okay, Cool". So I hunt, an easy no issue prey, not knowing what this game had in stored for me. A game with actual climate changes, gathering and hunting.

The first moment I noticed the clouds blocking the sun light I was in awe...just beautiful. Then all of a sudden the light is darkened and I heard strong wind blowing. I was thinking it must be an "in game" storm, a neat effect, but no, it's sound accompanied by a loud horrifying roar. Something is hovering above me, I'm not sure what's going on or what is it. My heart starts to thump, my hands get sweaty.  Then I look above to see what was over shadowing me as I hunt. There it was a bigger hunter, what we come to know as the King of the skies, a Rathalos! 

I was in awe and terrified at the same time, never have i seen such detail in sounds and gaming graphics. A game where all environments are in unison, this giant fire breathing Wyvern starts attacking the lesser beasts.  My friend told me to hide in the bushes as the King reeks havoc all around ...it was love at first sight lol. I  was so drawn in, this game that I thought was a simple kiddie game turned out to be so much more. 

I was thrilled and afraid all at once, I just had to see more! So my buddy let me borrow the game and that was the start of an epic adventure spanning over 14 years. Each version giving me more and more adventures and trills towards me coming an expert Monster Hunter. I'm Abram Guzman "PSN ID: UNWANTEDEATH", a veteran hunter.
